The closure of the pizza hut, one of the country’s largest pizza restaurants, will force Papa John’s to start a new chapter.
The pizza chain announced the closure of its two stores on Friday, citing a “unforeseen circumstance.”
Papa John is in the midst of a restructuring effort, and it expects to announce details in the next few weeks about the closures.
A company spokesperson said that the closure will “immediately affect the company’s pizza operations.”
The Papa John Pizza Hut is known for its pizza, but it also serves burgers, sandwiches and other baked goods.
The chain has more than 6,000 locations worldwide.
The closure comes amid a nationwide effort to cut back on fast-food workers.
The American Federation of Labor, the nation’s largest labor union, has called on Papa John to reduce its fast-casual workforce by 10 percent over the next five years.
The fast-chain company says it plans to add 5,000 new fast-sourcing jobs in the coming months.
